If Maps ruled the world, his best pal Benji would be court jester, and every day would celebrate a new experiment.

No, scratch that.

If Maps ruled the world, his best pal would still be living next door, and there wouldn’t be any gap-toothed new guy staring at him as if he’s bonkers.

Pity Maps doesn’t rule the world . . .

Maps Life According to Maps Book 1 eBook Nash Summers

This is a young adult book, no sex but sweet high school story about Maps and all his intelligent randomness, his mega sarcastic buddy Benji, and the new guy at school, who somehow just twists Maps up inside and out.
The three novellas together are essential, carry the story through to satisfying conclusion, and I laughed over slapstick humor and Maps' basic obliviousness throughout. This is not a story with mores and wisdom, but a pretty awesome sweet high school romance.
I laughed quite a bit (Maps can be quite ridiculous), had some "awww! moments, and remembered high school and all its insecurity!
Recommended lite romance with laughs, make sure to not miss out on Diamond and Lane's, the sequels.

Other young adult mm I recommend
Looking for Group by Alexis Hall (young college age, sex off stage)
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell (fantasy, kissing)
The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue (historical, rowdy, sex off stage but referred to, bisexuality)

Maps Life According to Maps Book 1 eBook Nash Summers Reviews

Truthfully it's hard not to like this story and it's characters, however this is truly geared to young audience. I kind of wish that the characters were young adults as opposed to teenagers. That being said, the writing is good, the characters are interesting, and some of the situations are truly humorous.
I loved this book. I read books for the people. The characters in this book were absolutely delightful. I loved my visit into Maps' world. I could keep reading about him and the other characters forever.
I love books by Nash Summers and I think this one is my favorite so far. I literally laughed out loud at some of the antics of Maps. He is such a cute quirky kid you can't help but to love him. This book is about adorable Maps and the strange feelings he's having for the new neighbor boy Lane. They both are confused about what they feel for each other and its just an adorable coming of age story. Loved it!! I will definitely read the next in the series.
OK. So I don’t usually go for YA stories. I don’t really identify well with them the times I tried, can't-engage-can't-enjoy kinda thing I guess. But in this case, the overwhelming excitement of people reviewing this story won me over.
I needed to find out for myself about this kid, Maps.
I was never disappointed.
This short story, this kid is outrageously, adorably and wickedly funny.
His mind never stops, forever curious, always experimenting; beautifully innocent and full of life; he’s true to himself. He’ll take over the damn world and it’ll be awesome ^^
And Lane? Lane appreciates him for the whole of what he is. And there’s a whole lot of Maps to appreciate.

This was just heartwarmingly beautiful to read and I actually wanted to keep reading. Go figure.
Glad I gave in ;)

Enjoy!
Maps was this genius geek in school who loved to experiment on... oh, Everything! He was practically attached on hips with his BFF Benji who lived next door. Until Benji had to move a few blocks away. The new neighbor had jock of a son a year Maps's senior. After a disastrous first meet, Lane the jock turned to be not so bad after all and it looked like they had no trouble to be friend. Or more.

I loved the characters here Maps with his quirky geniusness and confidence. Benji the great lifelong side-kick. Lane and his sister, Stacey. There were some snorting laughing moments whenever Maps and five-year-old Stacey were in the same location. They were hilarious together!

And by the way, Maps's parents were beyond awesome. They didn't treat him any different when they realized their only son was gay. His dad even consoled and encouraged him when he thought Maps's crush didn't work out.

I loved the way the plot reveal. It's simple yet real and full of humor. The good thing was there's no bullying whatsoever here (Benji's brother was a jerk, but it's a personality that generally known) and our MCs were nice and upfront kids who spoke their minds and being true to themselves. The friendship between Maps and Lane built slowly without leaving Benji behind.

Absolutely entertaining and lovely reading!
I really enjoyed the quirky titular character of Maps, a teen boy who hadn't given much thought to sexuality until new neighbors moved in next door. The character Maps drives the book Maps. And it's wanting to know how Maps is going to deal with the new teen boy that moved next door that keeps the reader wanting more. Their relationship as friends goes through fits and starts. Fortunately Maps has a good best friend to rely on, another endearing character, Benji. The book is unfortunately short, but such is the format the author chose, as it leads off a series of short stories based on the Maps character. After writing this review, I'm going to add the second book to my queue. I'm interested in following the tale of Maps, Lane and Benji. I recommend this good gay coming of age book.
I loved reading this YA novella. Maps Wilson is a quirky, charming character, an eccentric sixteen-year-old whose ever-whirring brain gets him into trouble and keeps him from being popular. In spite of this, he and his best friend Benji seem to be happily settled in their lives.

But Benji, who has always lived next door, is moving a few blocks away, and the new family is stirring up trouble in Maps’ routine. Stacie seems to be a female Dennis the Menace, and her older brother Lane, well he just stirs up something in Maps that Maps isn’t quite sure about.

The presence of parents in this story, as warm supportive (if exasperated) players in Maps’ daily drama, is most welcome. The clever, funny writing also makes the story particularly fun to read.

I confess I was a little let down by the ending. It seemed so…tentative. And then I pondered my own teenaged years, and realized that everything is tentative when you’re sixteen. How can you have a happy ending when your life has barely begun? How can you really know who you are when you’ve only just begun to discover yourself?

And, of course, this is book 1 in a series, of which the second book just appeared. I guess I’ll have to keep reading.
