This most definitely is not the book for anyone who is looking for deep personality analysis, intense themes, riveting plots or insights into Irish history. I'm sure that those who have had any contact, online or otherwise, with Wiccans would not find the latter to be laughing aloud at the idea that magical wands or transforming oneself into wolves would be a likely encounter. Yet, as a natural bluestocking who freely admits that Nora Roberts books are a regular guilty pleasure, I recommend these books highly for their blend of romance, magic, and a light but fairly realistic treatment of conflicts that can arise from not wishing to have one's true nature compromised yet knowing being different can alienate those whom one loves.

These magical tales are just perfect for a day at the beach, or snuggled under a duvet during a rainstorm, or for a leisurely garden read. I found myself wishing I could enter Morgana's shop or have a brew with Anastasia. The depictions of human relationships are lovely - filled with warmth and the ideal of a supportive and loving family. A profound truth always underlies the action - that love is the truest magic of all.
I think I have most of Nora Robert's books on my (and we own 4 kindles, counting the PC versions). I have a lot of them in paperback as well, but i ran out room to store the hard copies. I'm a 65 year old male, Southern Baptist Preacher and I still cry over fairy tales. Somebody is going to say, yes but these books are about witches. I don't know what that says about me. I do know what it says about Nora Roberts. She always writes a fascinating story that I want to read over and over. I am very glad to see that that Ms. Roberts is allowing so many of my backlist favorites to be reissued in the format. The Donavan legacy series have long been among my favorites. Captivating is the first in the series. It shows what happens when a throughly modern man (a screenwriter no less) meets a beautiful, throughly modern Irish witch. He writes about witches and ghosts and things that go bump in the night professionally, but he is not a true believer, until the witch demonstrates her power for him. Actually this is the formula for the entire series--a set of cousins with heriditary elvin blood end up marrying very modern, very skeptical people and live happily ever after. It's silly maybe, but I preordered the whole set for my , and have just finished rereading them, and in six months to a year, I'll probably read them again.
Being a long -time Nora Roberts fan, I was thrilled to find my favorite of her series in one volume for my . When I had to downsize my book collection because of a move, this was the only series of books I kept. I love her portrayal of the witches and each one's special gift.
No matter what time or century Roberts (or Robb) just never miss. Being from central California this is really special and witches what else could I ask for. Morgana is wonderful and Nash pathetically perfect. A great story, great characters all around. Always love series like these. Have read again and again. Proves it's great to visit old friends again and again. Get as singles or Trilogy Donovan Legacy, just get them read.
I have always enjoyed these books, it's a fun mix of magic and romance. But this kindle version is a hot mess. Only one font despite offering a choice, freezes up my kindle and kills it, pages won't turn. It has ruined my enjoyment of the series this time around and I sincerely regret paying for this version.

Save yourself some trouble and buy another version
This is such a great book, that I look forward to going back and reading these stories again like some that I already have, and I am impatient to read the rest of Nora Roberts' stories right now. Hot, Hot, Hot, love scenes, a well written, creative and intriguing story about family plus inventive, vivid characters, all on top of seriously wonderful love and romance. Each story is about one key person, usual in a family, or close group of friends, they are linked through intricate, messy links and it's almost like a movie you get the privilege of witnessing about these people's powerful, emotional, and often times painful journey towards falling in love. Roberts is one of my most favorite author's, and she doesn't disappoint in this series. Her unique style and classy, yet moving love scenes, paint a beautiful picture that leaves a person longing for something similar for themselves. All of that is combined into this fantastic series and make this book a "must-have"!!!! I didn't want to set it down....seriously!! Lol I was nodding off over my book on several different occasions. Worth the price and more to have a Nora Roberts book in your library collection!!!!!!
I'm a fan of everything Nora Roberts has written, and these stories are no exception. Well written, mostly likeable characters, and always engaging plotlines.

The problem isn't the book themselves, but the absolutely horribly formatting. No paragraph indent, which constantly pulled me from the stories because it was a struggle to tell who was speaking. And one of the books is in a different font, requiring a change in the size of the text in order to read it. It's very disappointing to get books at that price and find the formatting so horrible.
